Meet the director
Hello, I’m Cat, and I’m beyond excited to introduce you to Journiqa!
Before I dive in, let me share a little about myself. I’ve always been driven by wanderlust, fascinated by the magic of travel and immersing myself in new cultures. My journey began as a horse riding instructor at summer camps, which sparked the idea behind Skilled Summers—a service designed to connect people with camps that truly match their skills, personality, and future goals.
From there, I backpacked through South America, spent two years in Australia, and explored Southeast Asia, diving deep into Bali and Thailand. This extensive travel experience not only shaped my understanding of the world but also enabled me to curate our Journiqa itineraries with real insights into the local cultures and how we can positively impact the communities we visit.
One of my proudest accomplishments is founding the Lukeeta Foundation during my travels in Africa. Meeting the Lukeeta family had a profound impact on me, and it inspired a deep commitment to improving their quality of life. This experience fuels one of my core missions: with every journey you take with us, a portion of the proceeds goes towards providing monthly schooling for children in Uganda, ensuring your travels have a lasting, positive impact.

What services do you offer?We specialise in creating immersive group travel experiences to an exciting variety of destinations. Our packages include everything you need for a seamless adventure: Comfortable accommodation Airport transfers Travel between destinations Most meals Volunteering opportunities A curated selection of activities Plus plenty of extra surprises to enhance your journey! With Journiqa, we take care of the details so you can focus on making memories that last a lifetime.

Do I have to take part in the volunteering activities?All activities included in our programs are optional, if your not feeling upto to it or would prefer to explore at your own pace you can absolutely choose to do so. Most of our projects include more than one volunteering opportunity in either community, environment, teaching or animal care so there really is something for everyone.

Am I responsible for booking my own flights?When confirming one of our tours, you will be responsible for booking your own flights. We do this to provide you with the most flexibility on where you fly from, and also so you can find the best price for your journey.

What is your accommodation like?Our ground operators own the accommodation next to the volunteer projects, so you are guaranteed clean, comfortable accommodation with welcoming friendly staff. This accommodation is dorm rooms so you will be sharing, however if you prefer a private room this can be arranged for a small upgrade fee.

Can I customise my trip?Absolutely! We specialise in tailor-made experiences. Share your preferences, and our travel experts will create a personalized itinerary just for you, we can include hotel upgrades, special experience and pre and post tour accommodation and travel options. We can combine tours, and also offer tour extensions if you fall in love with a destination and want to spend more time on a project.

Are your trips suitable for solo travellers?Yes absolutely, we regularly have lots of people solo travelling and they all say that they have made friends for life on this trip! It’s a great way to meet likeminded people and make new friends.

How far in advance should I book my trip?We recommend booking 3–6 months in advance for the best availability, especially for peak travel seasons. However we can accommodate guests upto 7 days prior to trip departure as long as we can confirm your accommodation, please get in touch with us.

Do you offer discounts or promotions?Yes! We regularly offer seasonal promotions and early-bird discounts. Subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on social media for updates.

What payment methods do you accept?We accept major credit/debit cards and bank transfers, we also offer installment payment options.

Are there any hidden fees?No, we believe in full transparency. All costs are clearly outlined on the website and confirmed in your booking confirmation. All optional excursions and upgrades are clearly outlined in your itinerary.

Can I change my booking after confirmation?Yes, changes can usually be made upto 60 days prior to travel free of charge, please contact us if you need to make any changes after this.

What is your cancellation policy?Please refer to the terms and conditions for our full cancellation policy. Trips cancelled prior to 60 days to departure are eligible for a full refund less the initial booking deposit.

What travel documents do I need?For most trips, you’ll need a valid passport and possibly a visa. Some destinations may also require proof of vaccinations. We’ll provide a checklist tailored to your trip.

Do you help with visa applications?Yes, we provide guidance on visa requirements and application processes for your destination. However, the final application must be submitted by you.

Do you offer services for travelers with special needs?Yes, we strive to accommodate all travelers. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll tailor your trip to suit your needs.

Can I book a surprise trip for someone else?Of course! We can help you plan a surprise trip, and we’ll work discreetly to keep it a secret.
